The electrical side of things
Look, 3000W is a lot of juice. You can’t just plug this into any old wire and hope for the best. Make sure your wiring and contactors can actually handle the load, or you’ll deal with voltage drops across that 780mm span. Since it’s rated for 230V, it should slot right into most industrial grids without a headache. And because the heat is concentrated in a quartz envelope, the thing hits operating temperature almost the second you flip the switch.
Why the quartz and halogen matter
We use high-purity quartz because, frankly, the heat inside is brutal. To stop the tungsten filament from evaporating and gunking up the glass, we use a halogen gas cycle. This keeps the tube crystal clear so the heat actually gets out. But a word of warning: if you push these lamps to their absolute limit, the ends of the tube take a beating.**Keep them mounted securely.**If they vibrate too much, those filaments will snap, and you’re back to square one.
Putting them to work
You’ll mostly see these in PET bottle blowing or shrink wrapping. That 780mm length is great for heating up larger preforms or wide belts evenly. It cuts your cycle times down because you aren’t waiting around for the machine to warm up. Just remember that 3000W of shortwave energy is intense.
