
Let’s talk about the 1500W Quartz Halogen Lamp
When we built these 1500W lamps, we wanted one thing: raw, intense heat that actually gets the job done. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament wrapped in high-purity quartz. Now, the secret sauce here is the halogen cycle. It stops tungsten from gunking up the inside of the glass. That means the tube stays clear and the heat stays consistent, even after it’s been running for a long time. No fading, no surprises. Dealing with the power 1500W is a lot of juice. It’s exactly what you need if you want to heat a surface fast. But here is the thing: you’ve got to get your power supply and voltage exactly right. If you don’t, you’re just asking for a premature burnout. And if you’re packing these into a tight array? Get some serious ventilation. These things put off a ton of heat. If your cabinet can’t breathe, your controllers are going to trip their thermal cut-offs, and your whole line stops. Not a great feeling. The quartz side of things We use quartz because it lets shortwave IR pass right through. Instead of wasting energy heating up the air around your part, the heat hits the workpiece directly. Depending on what you’re working on, you can go with clear tubes or coated ones. We suggest the coated versions if you’re dealing with metallic surfaces—it shifts the heat to a medium-wave so it doesn’t just bounce off the metal. Plus, we use standard industrial connectors, so you can just pop these into your existing heater banks without a headache. Putting them to work You’ll see these all over the place in PET blowing and plastic welding. They’re great because they heat preforms instantly without warping the plastic. Since they hit temperature almost immediately, you can use PID controllers to pulse the power. It gives you a ton of control over your temperature tolerances. Just a couple of pro tips: First, watch your distance. If the lamp is too close to the part, you’ll get hotspots. Second, keep your reflectors clean. Dust is the enemy here. A little bit of grime drops your efficiency and, if things get hot enough, it can actually warp the reflector. Keep it shiny, and the lamps will do the rest.
